Mark and I met 7 years before we had our wedding day – I never thought it was going to happen! We’ve never been the most outwardly romantic of couples, but we love each other and are each other’s best friends – we do everything together (well I don’t go fishing with him, but you know what I mean!!). We’ve been lucky enough to have travelled to some amazing places around the world, and it was fitting that Mark proposed on the Great Wall of China.

Our wedding (and wedding saving) was 18 months in the making and we chose a travel themed wedding to celebrate our love of each other and of the world. I knew exactly how I’d like to decorate our venue, and hand made so many items ourselves! But what type of dress do you choose for a not so girly girl (me!) and a Country House wedding… and when you usually ask your other half for his opinion. Looking for dresses felt overwhelming for me – I thought everything was pretty and did originally choose another dress, but then, by chance I saw this amazing Paloma Blanca champagne ‘princess dress’ 4061 – I loved it and couldn’t get it out of my mind – I couldn’t wait to wear it and for Mark to see it – I knew he’d love it!

The fabric was such good quality and felt so soft – the delicate colour was gorgeous, and the added detail of the brooch and the pleating just finished the dress off perfectly. Very simple and elegant – letting the colour and the fabric speak for itself. The underskirt netting let me have the dress as big and poofy as I wanted – or, for me, not too poofy was perfect! It also had pockets – amazing idea! Tissues and lipstick! I truly believe this style of dress will never age – I hope to be able to hand it down one day.

I’ve never felt more in love with Mark than I did on our wedding day, and the beautiful dress I wore and fell in love with (and managed to keep mostly secret!) felt perfect – it really was an amazing day, surrounded by friends and family – all those who love us the most. Mark did love the dress, and I keep taking a peek every now and then to remember our day. I feel so lucky to have found her – and him – I’m desperate to wear her again and wishing away our time to renew our vows!
